Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Mutually is built to be private by default. You don’t create an account, and we collect as little as possible. This policy explains what we handle and why.
What we collect
- An anonymous ID. When you first use Mutually, your browser generates a random identifier stored locally on your device. It isn’t tied to your name or identity.
- Your conversations. The messages in a session are stored so the app can show your history and remember context between sessions.
- Your email — only if you give it. Used to send you product updates or to link a subscription across devices. It’s optional.
- Payment details — handled by Stripe. If you subscribe, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
How we use it
- To run the conversation and generate responses.
- To remember your past sessions so the experience improves over time.
- To manage subscriptions and, if you opted in, to email you.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. We share only what’s needed with the services that run Mutually: Anthropic (generates responses), Supabase (stores sessions), Stripe (processes payments), and Google Analytics (anonymous usage statistics with IP anonymization, so we can see how people find the site). Each handles data under its own terms.
Your choices
- Delete everything. Settings → “Delete my data” permanently removes your conversations and takeaways.
- Stay anonymous. You’re never required to give an email or any identifying detail to use Mutually.
Not therapy
Mutually is not therapy, medical care, or a crisis service, and conversations are not a substitute for professional help. If you’re in crisis, call or text 988 (US Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
